Ryan Phillippe Joins '9-1-1: Nashville' as Detective Rogue Kelly

Actor Ryan Phillippe has joined the cast of the Fox series 9-1-1: Nashville for its second season, where he will portray Detective Rogue Kelly. The character is described as a brilliant, iconoclastic detective who relocates to Nashville from New York. Phillippe's character is a "seductive bad boy with a past" who is expected to create dramatic tension with the first responders while leading an investigation into a mysterious criminal.

The season premiere on October 15 is set to feature an unusual case for the 113 unit, responding to a museum overrun by murder hornets. Meanwhile, Detective Kelly begins his investigation into a series of ominous crimes with biblical undertones. The synopsis also indicates that characters Blythe and Dixie will face consequences for a previous fight, and Don will also experience repercussions.

Phillippe, 52, brings extensive acting experience to the role, with a career spanning over 80 film and television credits since 1992. He is recognized for his roles in Cruel Intentions, Shooter, Crash, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. He has also appeared in series such as Damages, Secrets and Lies, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Big Sky.

Phillippe is also known for his past marriage to actress Reese Witherspoon, with whom he shares two children, Ava and Deacon Phillippe, both of whom are also pursuing acting careers. His addition to 9-1-1: Nashville has sparked speculation about a potential reunion with Jennifer Love Hewitt, an original cast member of I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Phillippe has reportedly signed a multi-year deal, suggesting his character Detective Rogue Kelly will be a significant presence in the series. 9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 airs Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC, with episodes available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
