U.S. Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and his ex-wife Kayla Reid have finalized their divorce, court records show. The finalization comes a month after Lochte became engaged to his girlfriend, Molly Gillihan.
Lochte, 41, stated that he and Gillihan can now begin wedding planning. He proposed to Gillihan, whom he has been dating for one year, at the Gainesville, Florida, restaurant where they first met. The couple has since relocated to Missouri, where Lochte accepted an assistant coaching position with the Missouri State swim program.
Reid, a realtor in Gainesville, shared that the divorce has been a challenging but strengthening experience. "Divorce is never something you celebrate, but there is something incredibly empowering about surviving it and realizing you are stronger than you ever gave yourself credit for," Reid said in a statement. She expressed gratitude for the support she received during the process.
Reid officially announced the divorce was finalized on July 1, 2026, at 9:59 a.m. via an Instagram post. She had publicly announced their marriage was "irretrievably broken" in June 2026.
Lochte and Reid share three children: a son, Caiden, 9, and two daughters, Liv, 7, and Georgia, 3. Gillihan also has three children from a previous relationship. Lochte previously told TMZ that the public scrutiny and alleged harassment in Gainesville made living there "no longer healthy or feasible" for him and Gillihan. He stated that he felt shunned in the community due to ongoing bullying and harassment from his ex-wife.
