Ryan Fitzpatrick Regrets One Remark in Bo Nix Criticism

Ryan Fitzpatrick, a former NFL quarterback known for his aggressive play style, has refined his recent critique of Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix. While Fitzpatrick stands by his overall assessment of Nix's competitiveness during the Broncos' 17-14 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, he regrets one specific remark from his postgame analysis.

"The line about being disrespectful to the quarterback position, it boiled over, and that’s the one phrase I wish I could have taken back, because I think my criticism was fair," Fitzpatrick stated on his podcast, "Fitz and Whit." He elaborated that he did not believe Nix demonstrated the expected effort or competitiveness in the latter stages of the game, a point he felt compelled to make.

Fitzpatrick, who played 17 seasons in the NFL, maintained that his core criticism was rooted in observing a lack of competitive drive from Nix, suggesting that "something’s going on with him." He contrasted this with other quarterback matchups he had witnessed, highlighting instances of intense competition that he believes the quarterback position deserves.

Despite the Broncos securing a win, Fitzpatrick chose to focus his postgame commentary on Nix's performance. He acknowledged that playing quarterback is difficult and that external factors can be uncontrollable, but emphasized that certain actions, such as turning down throws, are within a player's control and were particularly bothersome to him.

Former Broncos player Aqib Talib had previously defended Nix, questioning Fitzpatrick's standing to critique him. Fitzpatrick addressed Talib playfully in a video but saved his more detailed explanation regarding Nix for his podcast.
