Ryan Clark Defends Jason Kelce Over 'We' Comment
Former ESPN analyst Ryan Clark sided with Jason Kelce after the Eagles legend apologized for referring to his former team as 'we' during a broadcast.
Ryan Clark, a former ESPN colleague of Jason Kelce, has defended the Philadelphia Eagles legend after Kelce apologized for referring to his former team as 'we' during a broadcast.
Kelce, now an analyst for ESPN, made the gaffe during the Monday Night Football game between the Eagles and the Chicago Bears. Trailing 10-7 at halftime, Kelce stated, 'We played really well offensively. We had opportunities.' He continued to use 'we' when discussing the Eagles' performance, appearing to momentarily forget he was no longer a player.
Pat McAfee, another ESPN analyst and former NFL player, pointed out Kelce's slip-up. Kelce quickly apologized, asking, 'Sorry Bears fans! Did I say we?'
Clark took to social media platform X to express his support for Kelce, emphasizing his legendary status in Philadelphia. 'I'm trying to mind my own, but hell yea it's "We" Future Hall of Famer!! You're a legend, Jason Kelce,' Clark posted. 'Blood, sweat, tears, & glory in Philly. No one can take that away. You can still do your job the right way! Bump anyone saying differently.'
Kelce, who spent his entire 13-year NFL career with the Eagles, won a Super Bowl with the team and retired after the 2023 season. He joined ESPN as an analyst in his third season with the network.
Clark himself has recently been in the news regarding his departure from ESPN. He claimed the network attempted to humiliate him and leaked information about his dismissal to OutKick in an effort to remove him from a live broadcast. Clark, who was part of the Monday Night Countdown panel with Kelce, was dismissed by ESPN during a recording of NFL Live earlier this summer.
