Ruth Langsford's Dog Maggie Dies at 16; Ex Eamonn Holmes Continues Recovery

Ruth Langsford has announced the death of her cherished dog, Maggie, who passed away peacefully at the age of 16. The presenter shared the news on social media, stating she was with Maggie until the end.

Maggie had been a part of Langsford's life for 15 years, bringing joy and unconditional love. Langsford wrote in her post, "It is with a heavy heart that I tell you our beautiful Maggie has gone to sleep forever. She was 16 years old and sadly this was her time. Her passing was painless and peaceful and we were with her until the very end. We are so thankful to have had her in our lives for 15 years… she gave us so much joy and unconditional love. We will treasure our memories forever. Rest in peace our beautiful girl."

Maggie was shared custody between Langsford and her ex-husband, Eamonn Holmes, following their split in 2024. The dog's death comes as reports indicate Langsford has been supporting Holmes, who is recovering from a stroke he suffered in April. Sources have reported that Holmes' girlfriend, Katie Alexander, has moved out of their shared flat.

Langsford and Holmes separated in May 2024 after 14 years of marriage. Holmes, a presenter for GB News Breakfast, has been hospitalized since his stroke in April. Alexander, 45, had reportedly been dividing her time between the Surrey flat Holmes rented after his marriage breakdown and her home in West Yorkshire. According to reports, she moved her belongings out of the rented £1.3 million home on Friday, with sources describing the situation as "incredibly sad."

A source close to Alexander told The Sun on Sunday, "Katie is still very much together with Eamonn and in love, but she’s moved out of the flat. It’s an incredibly sad situation — she loved it there and the time they spent together making it home. Katie has been Eamonn’s rock and lifeline since he fell ill. She’s willing him to get back to full fitness and get their lives back on track."

It remains uncertain where Holmes will reside upon his release from the hospital. His family is reportedly managing his financial affairs during his hospitalization. Holmes' representatives have been contacted for comment.

Holmes and Alexander began their relationship months after his separation from Langsford. In March, prior to his stroke, Holmes described Alexander as "the perfect tonic" for his health concerns, noting their shared tastes in food and activities like countryside walks.

Ruth shared a snap of Maggie playing with one of her toys, writing she had a long and happy life before her death at the age of 16

Holmes has faced a number of health issues in recent years, including major spinal surgery in 2022 for slipped discs and arthritis in his spine. He had previously expressed his intention to make a full recovery and return to his anchor role at GB News, but his recovery is understood to be taking longer than anticipated, leading to speculation that his career may be over.
