Rust Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Resurfaces in New Career After Prison Release
The former armorer convicted in the fatal shooting on the set of 'Rust' has transitioned from Hollywood to operating a piercing business and training as a tattoo artist.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer convicted in the accidental on-set shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has embarked on a new career path after her release from prison. Now 29, Gutierrez-Reed has moved away from the film industry and is reportedly running a piercing business called "Little Pricks Piercings" out of a tattoo parlor in Arizona. She is also training to become a tattoo artist.
Hutchins, a 42-year-old mother, was killed in October 2021 on the set of the Western film 'Rust' near Santa Fe when a prop gun held by actor Alec Baldwin discharged. Gutierrez-Reed was the film's armorer, responsible for the weapons on set.
Gutierrez-Reed was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in March 2024 and sentenced to 18 months in prison. She served her sentence at the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grants. According to reports, she was released five months early due to good behavior and time-served credits.
Alec Baldwin, who was holding the firearm, was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter but those charges were dismissed in April 2024. Prosecutors cited new evidence and a possible conflict of interest, and the case was dismissed with prejudice in July 2024 after prosecutors were accused of withholding evidence.
Gutierrez-Reed's new business, Little Pricks Piercings, reportedly features a tagline: “Need a new coping mechanism? We do piercings that heal faster than heartbreak!”
