A 21-year-old Russian OnlyFans model has been convicted of producing and distributing sexually explicit online videos and was handed a three-year suspended jail sentence, a substantial fine, and a three-year ban from the internet.

Sofya Vershinina, who also uses the moniker Sonya Marmeladova, was found guilty in a Moscow court. Prosecutors had sought a sentence of three-and-a-half years in a Russian penal colony. However, Vershinina pleaded guilty and expressed remorse, leading to the suspended sentence. She must pay a $60,000 fine, and her suspended sentence could be revoked if she violates its conditions.

The internet ban prevents Vershinina from operating her online business or appearing on digital platforms for three years. Russian prosecutors alleged that Vershinina earned over $400,000 by selling explicit content on OnlyFans and the Telegram messenger app. Investigators have confiscated her iPhone 16 Pro Max, though her collection of sex toys and accessories has been returned.

Vershinina is among several Russian models targeted as part of President Vladimir Putin's ongoing crackdown on the country's perceived illegal porn industry and a broader push to enforce what he terms "traditional values." Other individuals facing legal action include 27-year-old Diana Shurygina, who is currently awaiting trial, and 24-year-old Anastasia Ovsyannikova, also known as "Nastya Kholod," who was detained on suspicion of illegal production and distribution of pornographic content.

Creating and distributing pornographic material is illegal in Russia. Legal experts have warned that the current crackdown on the adult content industry could potentially expand in scope due to the president's emphasis on traditional values.
