A Russian drone struck a train engine near the Ukraine-Poland border on Wednesday, Ukrainian authorities reported. The incident occurred shortly after former United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson and several top European security officials had passed through the area on a separate train.
No casualties were reported from the strike in Yahodyn, as all passengers had already been evacuated. Johnson and a delegation of European national security advisers, including the UK's Jonathan Powell, were returning from a conference in Kyiv.
Officials are assessing the incident for signs of escalation in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The proximity of the strike to high-profile Western figures traveling through a key logistical corridor has drawn particular attention.
