Russia launched a large aerial assault in and around Ukraine’s capital overnight into Tuesday morning, killing at least 11 people and wounding more than a dozen others, including three children, local authorities reported.

The Ukrainian air force stated that Russia began the attack at 6 p.m. Monday, employing ballistic, cruise, and anti-radar missiles, alongside 218 drones and decoys, approximately one-third of which were reportedly jet-powered. The primary targets were the Kyiv and Odesa regions.

This recent assault marks the sixth consecutive day of Russian attacks on Kyiv, following an unprecedented period of air raid alerts that began last week. The warnings have continued at a near-constant pace, constituting a sustained, multiday barrage that has increasingly featured fast, jet-powered drones, subjecting the capital and its residents to prolonged danger.

The strikes impacted civilian infrastructure and residential buildings across several districts of Kyiv. Eight people were killed within the city itself, and three more in the surrounding region. In the Darnytskyi district, Russian strikes resulted in seven fatalities, with one person hospitalized for serious injuries. At another location in the district, an explosion injured two individuals, one of them a child. A nonresidential building was struck in the Holosiivskyi district, causing a fire and killing one person. In the Solomianskyi district, a drone strike hit a residential building, leading to the rescue of one man and the freeing of a woman trapped under rubble.

Outside of Kyiv city, three people died and 12 were wounded in areas of the Kyiv region. In Boryspil, three cars caught fire at an infrastructure facility, and a truck ignited at another facility, damaging the building. Two people were killed and three others injured in these incidents. A service station in Boryspil also sustained damage.

The Odesa region experienced a significant Russian attack overnight, resulting in damage to civilian infrastructure and one injury, according to regional head Oleh Kiper. Two residential buildings were damaged, and a fire broke out at a sewing factory. Russian forces also targeted the Orlivka international ferry crossing, situated on the border with Romania.

Ukrainian forces reported destroying or suppressing 199 aerial targets, including five ballistic missiles and 187 drones. Missile and drone strikes were recorded at 28 locations, with debris from intercepted targets falling at an additional 10 sites.
