Russia launched overnight missile and drone strikes across Ukraine, hitting a key energy facility and a residential building on the outskirts of Kyiv, officials reported. The attacks left at least three people dead and 21 injured in the capital, according to Ukraine's state emergencies service.
Across the country, at least 600,000 people lost electricity following strikes on critical infrastructure in the Kyiv region and the northeastern city of Kharkiv. Russia's defense ministry stated that its "massive" strikes were aimed at communications and energy facilities utilized by Ukraine's military.
The strikes occurred after U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that an "energy ceasefire" was in effect between Russia and Ukraine.
