Russia conducted a significant ballistic missile assault on Kyiv, resulting in one fatality and at least 14 injuries, according to officials. The Ukrainian military reported intercepting 18 out of 41 missiles and 108 drones.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky characterized the overnight strikes as "one of the most massive ballistic attacks on Kyiv" since the commencement of Russia's full-scale invasion. The attacks involved a variety of Russian weaponry, including Iskander and hypersonic Zircon missiles, in addition to 125 drones, the Ukrainian air force stated. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko confirmed that both residential and non-residential structures sustained damage, with a supermarket and a dormitory among the affected sites. Firefighters worked to extinguish blazes at two warehouses.
Over the past week, Russia has reportedly deployed approximately 1,450 strike drones, over 1,640 guided bombs, and 99 missiles of various types against Ukraine, Zelensky noted in a Telegram message. These latest strikes on Kyiv followed a Ukrainian drone operation that targeted two warehouses belonging to the Russian online retailer Wildberries, reportedly killing eight people and igniting substantial fires.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has continued its own offensive actions against Russian targets. The governor of the Stavropol region, located in southwestern Russia, reported that a drone attack led to a fire within an industrial park.
