Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Monday that it has detained two individuals accused of plotting a drone attack targeting a significant component of Moscow's air defense system and an electricity facility. According to the FSB, the suspects, identified as originating from the South Caucasus region, were acting on instructions from Ukraine's Security Service (SBU).

The FSB reported that the apprehended men retrieved First Person View (FPV) drones and explosives from two Russian regions. They then transported these materials to the Moscow region, where they configured and prepared the drones for launch. The agency stated that the drones were intended to be operated remotely from Ukraine.

"It has been established that one of the suspects was recruited by an SBU officer and, on that officer’s instructions and in return for a promised monetary reward, traveled to Russia to prepare and carry out a sabotage and terrorist attack," the FSB stated. "To this end, he enlisted the help of an acquaintance from his close circle."

The FSB further elaborated that the suspects were apprehended by its officers as they were preparing to execute the planned attack on the electricity infrastructure and the missile defense system.

There has been no immediate comment from the SBU or Ukrainian officials regarding the FSB's claims. In recent months, Ukraine has increased its attempts to launch drone attacks on the Russian capital, while Russia has intensified its own strikes on Ukrainian power and other infrastructure targets.
