Russell Brand has reportedly settled a legal claim for £220,000 concerning his failure to deliver two self-help books as part of a contract with publishers Pan Macmillan. The settlement was agreed upon before multiple allegations of sexual assault, which Brand denies, surfaced.

Brand had signed a deal in 2021 for two non-fiction books, with a total payment of £575,000. Pan Macmillan initiated legal action to reclaim £220,000, citing 'wasted expenditure' after the contract was terminated in 2023, shortly after an investigation into the allegations against him was published. The publisher stated that Brand had "failed to produce the typescripts for the books at all," with the first book due in May 2021 and the second in October of the same year.

Brand, who now resides in Florida, is in the process of closing his UK business interests, including his company Pablo Diablo's Legitimate Business Firm, which he co-owns with his wife, Laura Brand. He also recently sold a historic property in Oxfordshire that he had planned to convert into a recording studio.

Brand is scheduled to stand trial in the UK in October to face charges of rape and sexual assault, which he vehemently denies.

In parallel, Brand is also involved in civil legal proceedings in the US. He is being sued in American courts over an alleged sex assault that occurred during the filming of the 2011 comedy "Arthur." An unnamed woman claims Brand assaulted her in a bathroom on set while she alleges a crew member guarded the door. During a deposition in this case, Brand testified under oath about his marriage to Katy Perry, stating he was "overwhelmed with love" for her at the time and that their relationship was monogamous, asserting he was faithful to Perry.

His legal team has previously argued in the US case that his alleged behavior was misunderstood, suggesting the claimant might have conflated his acting role as a drunk character with his real-life sobriety at the time. Brand's lawyers have indicated he had not taken drugs for eight years prior to the filming of "Arthur."
