Runaway Highland Cow Leads Police on Four-Day Chase in New York Town
The animal, named Maggie, eventually was safely captured and reunited with her calf.
A four-year-old Highland cow named Maggie led authorities on a four-day chase through Carmel, New York, before being safely apprehended. The escapade began when Maggie, who originally hails from Massachusetts, escaped from Little Cabin's Farm on Tuesday.
Witnesses reported seeing the cow trotting down roadways, with some capturing the unusual pursuit on video. Exclamations from onlookers included "Holy sh-t! It's a cow!" and "Oh my god, he's running straight at my car."
An officer eventually managed to lasso Maggie, bringing the extended chase to an end. Following her capture, the farm confirmed that Maggie is now safe and has been reunited with her calf.
One of the farm's owners, Marianna Brophy, told News12 that Maggie had become "freaked out" and escaped into the woods, prompting the lengthy search.
