Rufus Hound Marries Actress Sally Hodgkiss After Three-Year Relationship
Comedian Rufus Hound has announced his marriage to actress Sally Hodgkiss, marking a new chapter after his previous divorce.
Rufus Hound, 47, has married his girlfriend Sally Hodgkiss, 42, after three years together. The comedian revealed the news on the social media platform Bluesky, sharing a modified countdown calendar that indicated the wedding had taken place. This union follows Hound's split from his wife, Beth Johnson, six years prior.
Hound and Hodgkiss became engaged in 2024, a proposal that occurred live on stage. He described the moment on X (formerly Twitter), expressing how Hodgkiss had redefined his understanding of love and feeling seen. The proposal happened during a performance at Wilton's Music Hall, where Hound, overwhelmed, dropped to one knee. Hodgkiss, initially confused due to the characters they were playing (siblings), accepted his proposal. Hound shared that his children, parents, and friends were delighted by the news.
News of Hound's relationship with Hodgkiss first surfaced in June of the previous year when he took to Twitter to express his feelings for her. He described her as someone who loved him immensely and made everything better.
Hodgkiss, an actress, previously appeared in the television series EastEnders in 2019, playing a waitress at the restaurant Walford East. She has also had a role in Casualty and participated in various stage productions. Hound and Hodgkiss met and began their relationship after Hound's divorce from Beth Johnson. The couple wed in 2007 in Las Vegas and share two children, Alby and Hilda, before their separation in 2020. Hound had stated at the time of their split that he and Johnson would always remain best friends, emphasizing their continued commitment to their children as a priority.
In 2021, Hound was a contestant on Dancing On Ice. Around that time, resurfaced tweets from earlier years, which contained alleged racist and homophobic slurs, led to calls for him to be removed from the show. Reports suggested that ITV decided not to remove him, drawing comparisons to a previous incident where another contestant was removed for similar reasons. Hound ultimately withdrew from Dancing On Ice after testing positive for COVID-19.
