Influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews has shared an emotional video on social media detailing her struggles with grief, motherhood, and professional pressures following a series of personal setbacks. The 33-year-old revealed she has been grappling with the recent death of her close friend, Byron Bay property developer Myles Trainor, who died in June at the age of 41.
Matthews also disclosed undergoing a dilation and curettage procedure that failed, necessitating emergency surgery. "Just been through some of the biggest changes as of late, losing my best friend, which I think has just really hit me, having a D&C that failed and then having to have an emergency surgery which hormonally has f**ked me," she stated in the video.
The Australian influencer, who recently traveled to South Korea for a facelift, described feeling overwhelmed by work deadlines and challenges in navigating motherhood. "Working with the most insane deadlines. I'm struggling so much in motherhood and navigating my children," she said. Matthews, who identifies as neurodiverse and has ADHD, noted that emotional regulation has always been difficult for her.
Adding to her stress, Matthews mentioned financial obligations and her recent decision to part ways with her management. She emphasized that she shared her experience not for sympathy, but to be transparent about life's difficulties. "There's so many other people who reach the end of their tether," she said. "And I just wanted to say that, like, I feel you and I'm a normal person too."
Matthews reflected on how social media often presents an incomplete picture of reality. "I don't think that people forget that everyone shows the sides of their lives that is so great," she commented.
She also spoke about the physical exhaustion from her surgeries while trying to continue working overseas. In a separate video, Matthews expressed feeling disoriented and not like herself since experiencing postnatal depression. "I'm at this weird point, I haven't felt since kind of like having postnatal depression where I'm in such a weird headspace and usually I can get myself out of it," she explained, adding that she was overseas and had work commitments.
Matthews described her demanding schedule as leaving her breathless and feeling profoundly alone, despite having a support network. The public admission follows her recent $16,000 facelift in South Korea, a decision that generated debate online, with some criticizing her actions and others praising her candor.
