Ruby Rose Recounts Traumatic Teen Incident Involving Fatal Playground Accident and Accusations

Actress Ruby Rose has recounted a deeply traumatic experience from her teenage years, where she was accused of murdering a young child following a fatal playground accident. The revelation came during her first-ever podcast interview on "Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe."

Rose, who was 15 at the time, described being at a social gathering with her mother and family friends at a house in a bushland area. While outside with a friend near the play equipment, she discovered a four-year-old boy who had been injured. She initially mistook him for a doll.

"My friend and I locked eyes and we started walking towards it. As we got close enough, we could tell this was a real human," Rose said on the podcast. "There was blood coming out of his ear, nose, mouth. It was very traumatic."

Rose stated she picked up the boy and carried him into the house, where adults began performing CPR. She believed she had saved him, as he was still breathing when an ambulance arrived and transported him to the hospital. However, she later received news that the child was not expected to recover and was on life support.

According to Rose, the child was declared brain dead and subsequently taken off life support, at which point he did not survive.

The incident took a severe personal toll on Rose. The day after the boy's death, police arrived at her high school to question her. This led to her being subjected to accusations from others, with some calling her a "baby killer."

Rose explained that the child's older brother, who had witnessed the event, initially suffered from dissociative amnesia. However, he later recovered his memories and informed the police that the death was a tragic accident. This testimony cleared Rose of any wrongdoing.

Despite being exonerated, Rose shared that the child's mother did not want her present at the funeral, leaving her excluded from the service.

Rose eventually pursued a career in acting, moving to Hollywood in 2013 and gaining recognition for roles in films such as "Pitch Perfect 3," "John Wick: Chapter 2," "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter," and "xXx: Return of Xander Cage." Her acting career also included a starring role in the CW series "Batwoman," which she left after sustaining a spinal injury on set. She now resides in rural Victoria.
