Ruby Rose was hospitalized after sustaining multiple broken ribs in an accident involving her pool. The actress, 40, shared a video of the incident on Instagram Stories on Monday, stating, “RIP to my ribs, and to the rest of my summer... They are broken, multiple.”
The footage shows Rose holding a hose when she misses the edge of her pool, hits a wall, and lands in the water. She described the event as self-inflicted, writing on Threads, “Please come and take me out. I brought this upon myself. And now I have to breathe into a machine lol. Landed perfectly on the right side of my ribs. Breaking the bottom two.”
Rose, who previously suffered a significant injury while filming the CW series “Batwoman,” compared the current incident to her past experience. In 2019, she sustained two herniated discs after performing stunts on the show, an injury that required emergency surgery and nearly impacted her spinal cord. Reflecting on that time, she posted on Threads, “I’m sorry, but what in the f–king dissociation and self abandonment did I do, to return to work on batwoman, the day after breaking my rib and neck.”
Regarding her current injury, Rose indicated that recovery will take several weeks, asking fans for book and show recommendations. She humorously noted, “this is going to take many weeks” and added, “I’ve just broken two ribs, falling into my own pool backwards and you couldn’t pay me to put a bra on, let alone stand up.”
Rose exited “Batwoman” after its first season in 2020, alleging that show executives created an unsafe work environment and forced her to return to work after her emergency surgery. Warner Bros. denied these claims at the time.
