Senator Marco Rubio has humorously rejected Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s reported diet, which includes red meat and fermented vegetables, describing it as "crazy."
Appearing on "The Katie Miller Podcast" with his wife, Jeanette, Rubio quipped about the practicality of Kennedy's regimen. "This is a diet that consists of eating sauerkraut and meat. Now you understand, like, this is not a sustainable thing... He has to travel with coolers of sauerkraut! I'm not going to travel the world with a cooler full of sauerkraut. It's ridiculous. I can't do it," Rubio stated.
While Rubio expressed support for Kennedy's "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA) initiative, his wife pointed out his own less-than-ideal eating habits. "You eat sweets," Jeanette Rubio said, to which the senator responded, "No, I don't eat Pop-Tarts every day."
Rubio then playfully lauded the breakfast pastry, calling it "one of the great American innovations in the history of the world."
Rubio has been a subject of public interest, with speculation about a potential 2028 presidential candidacy. A recent poll in New Hampshire showed him trailing Vice President J.D. Vance by 10 points in a hypothetical matchup. He has also addressed a viral meme depicting him on an Oval Office couch during a meeting between former President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2025. Rubio initially disliked the photo but has since found humor in it, noting how it evolved into a popular meme.
