Prince Harry made a surprise appearance at the United for Freedom gala in London, a black-tie event raising funds for charities supporting Ukraine. The Duke of Sussex spoke at the Imperial War Museum about the ongoing conflict, sharing his experiences from recent trips to the nation.

"I have seen something in Ukraine that makes it impossible for me to look away. I have met people who have lost limbs, lost homes and lost loved ones - and yet somehow find the strength to rebuild," Harry stated. He also commended the resilience of the Ukrainian people, noting their efforts to maintain businesses and schools while developing new warfare technologies. "But their resilience should never become an excuse for the rest of us to tolerate their suffering. Ukrainians should not have to prove, year after year, just how much they can endure. Their courage deserves more than our admiration. It deserves our resolve," he added.

Meanwhile, approximately six miles away, Prince William participated in the inaugural Bowelbabe Fund Rebel Ball at the Hurlingham Club. His contribution to the event, held on what would have been campaigner Dame Deborah James's 45th birthday, was a pre-recorded video message. Dame Deborah died from bowel cancer in June 2022.

Prince William paid tribute to James, highlighting her "positivity and humour in the face of adversity" and her "rebellious hope." He described her as an "amazing woman" and noted that the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK has supported pioneering research, providing "more people more time with the ones they love." He encouraged attendees to celebrate and make memories, as Dame Deborah would have wished.

The Bowelbabe Fund, launched by Dame Deborah in May 2022, supports cutting-edge research and raises awareness for bowel cancer. It initially aimed to raise £250,000, but her fundraising efforts eventually garnered millions. Prince William personally conferred her damehood in the weeks before her death.
