Ross Kemp's 1980s Kellogg's Ad Resurfaces, Showing a Very Different Persona

A resurfaced advertisement from the 1980s shows actor Ross Kemp in a role far removed from his familiar tough-guy persona. In the commercial for Kellogg's Fruit N’ Fibre cereal, Kemp, then in his mid-twenties, sports a baseball cap and a youthful head of hair, a stark contrast to his well-known bald appearance.

In the clip, Kemp, dressed in golfing attire, sings about the cereal's ingredients, including apples, hazelnuts, and bananas, and how it complements his day. The advert was filmed approximately one year before Kemp made his debut as Grant Mitchell in the popular BBC soap opera 'EastEnders' in February 1990.

Kemp, who gained fame for his portrayal of the no-nonsense Grant Mitchell, was involved in numerous significant storylines during his tenure on 'EastEnders' before departing in 1999. He has since made brief returns to the show, with his most recent appearance in 2026.

This is not the first time Kemp's younger appearance has drawn attention. During a past appearance on 'Good Morning Britain,' old photos were shown of the actor with a different hairstyle shortly after he finished drama school. Kemp has previously spoken about his experience with male pattern baldness, a condition affecting a significant portion of men, and his decision against hair transplants or cosmetic surgery.

He has stated, "I do try and make myself look presentable, which isn't easy with this face. I look in the mirror and think: squashed sultana. Do I wish I had a head of hair? Course, but I'd never have hair implants, or plastic surgery to fix this bit under my chin. This is me. If you don't like it, you know what you can do."

Meanwhile, on 'Celebrity Traitors,' fans have speculated about Kemp's investigative abilities on the show. The recent episode featured the 'Traitors' attempting to eliminate a 'Faithful' by making them yawn through boredom. Viewers noted Kemp's intense focus and expressed that he is likely to uncover the deception, given his character's established paranoia on the program.
