Rosie O'Donnell shared a photo on Instagram from a recent prison visit with her daughter, Chelsea, who is currently serving an 18-month sentence. O'Donnell, 64, also shared a text message exchange between the two.
In the photograph, which appeared to have been taken in June, both O'Donnell and Chelsea are seen smiling. Chelsea, 28, is in the midst of her sentence at Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She was sentenced in October 2025 following multiple probation violations linked to guilty pleas from arrests in 2024. These arrests involved felony charges including methamphetamine possession and child neglect.
Chelsea pleaded guilty to three felonies in February 2025: bail jumping, methamphetamine possession, and resisting or obstructing an officer. The following month, she received six years of probation, with two years allotted for each charge. Probation terms included sobriety, not possessing alcohol or non-prescribed narcotics, and not associating with individuals linked to drugs.
Chelsea's probation was revoked in October 2025 due to a previous incident, leading to her current sentence. Earlier this summer, O'Donnell spoke to Page Six about reconciling with her daughter, stating that the prison visit marked the first conversation lasting over 25 minutes in a decade. She described the four-hour prison visit as the first time she had seen Chelsea in a consistent way and noted seeing an "empathetic emotion" from her for the first time. O'Donnell credited Chelsea with "growing up" and expressed hope for a brighter future.
Last week, O'Donnell also made a return to television as a guest host for Jimmy Kimmel during his summer break.
