Rose West, 72, Reportedly 'On Her Last Legs' and Preparing to Die in Prison

Serial killer Rose West, 72, is reportedly in severe declining health and has accepted she will die in prison. Sources close to the inmate at HMP New Hall in West Yorkshire claim she is "on her last legs" and "barely able to move."

West is currently serving a whole-life sentence for the murders of 10 young women and girls between 1971 and 1987, crimes committed with her husband, Fred West. She was convicted in 1995.

Her health has deteriorated significantly in recent months, to the point where she cannot move without assistance. This has necessitated a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP), a protocol used in prisons for inmates with mobility issues who would require help during emergencies like fires or riots. The plan designates a prison officer or a trained inmate to assist her.

A source told The Sun that while staff dislike implementing PEEPs, particularly for high-profile prisoners like West, they have a duty of care. "She cannot leave her wing and is also resigned to dying in jail," the source added.

Earlier this year, West was reportedly disciplined after an alleged sexual assault on a younger female inmate. Sources claimed she groomed the vulnerable woman for weeks before the alleged attack in February. Following the incident, West was disciplined by prison authorities, losing privileges and spending extended periods confined to her cell.

Despite her age and frail appearance, a source stated that West remains a "serious danger." The insider alleged that West befriended the younger inmate, exploited her vulnerability, and then attempted to assault her. Prison staff intervened, leading to West's discipline.

West, who legally changed her name to Jennifer Jones in 2020, is housed in a specialized unit designed for female prisoners requiring enhanced psychological support.

Rose West was convicted of the torture and murder of at least 10 women and girls, including her daughter Heather West and stepdaughter Charmaine West
