Roosters Stars Celebrate Historic Premiership Double with Beers and Barefoot Bowls
Sydney Roosters players from both the men's and women's teams gathered for a relaxed celebration after their championship victories.
Sydney Roosters stars marked their historic premiership double with an afternoon of barefoot bowls and drinks. The celebration brought together the men's and women's teams less than 24 hours after both squads secured championship titles.
The players, dressed in matching premiership T-shirts, convened in Sydney's eastern suburbs for a laid-back victory party. Beers flowed as participants took to the bowling green, with some players ditching their shoes for the occasion.
For several players, the gathering represented a final opportunity to celebrate with teammates. Among those departing is veteran halfback Daly Cherry-Evans, who joined the Roosters for the 2026 season after 15 years with Manly. He is set to move to Hull FC in the Super League after concluding his NRL career with a premiership win.
Mark Nawaqanitawase also celebrated his final moments with the club before transitioning back to rugby union. Nawaqanitawase is expected to play for the Saitama Wild Knights in Japan and pursue an opportunity with the Wallabies. He departs the Roosters after a notable tenure, during which he scored 43 tries in 45 appearances. He scored two tries in the grand final before lifting the Provan-Summons Trophy.
Coach Trent Robinson lauded Nawaqanitawase as 'extraordinary' following the victory. The celebrations continued into the early hours of Monday morning with a return to Bondi Junction.
