Prosecutors presented video footage of a police interview with Lance Twiggs, 23, the former roommate and lover of murder suspect Tyler Robinson, during a pre-trial hearing Thursday. Twiggs testified that Robinson confessed to assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In the April 2026 interview, conducted by Utah investigators, Twiggs recounted the events surrounding Kirk's murder on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University. Twiggs stated he first met Robinson in 2023, and they began dating two months later. On the morning of the assassination, Robinson left early, claiming he had a long shift at work. Twiggs reported not hearing from Robinson until 11 p.m. that night, when Robinson instructed him to check under his keyboard for a handwritten note. According to court filings, the note read, "I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it."
Twiggs recalled Robinson returning to their shared home the following morning. He described Robinson as pacing and avoiding questions about Kirk's death. Twiggs claimed Robinson eventually admitted to the assassination, began crying, and told Twiggs "he wishes he hadn't done it." Robinson also stated he planned to go to his parents or turn himself in, Twiggs added.
Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was killed on September 10, 2025, while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson, 23, is accused of his murder. The pre-trial hearing is ongoing, with proceedings aiming to determine if prosecutors have established probable cause for the case to proceed to trial.
