A missing Southern California man was found buried in a shallow grave behind his home, and his roommate has been arrested on a murder charge. Daniel Joslin, 61, was reported missing from Yucca Valley on July 3 after family and friends had not seen or heard from him since June 26.
Deputies initially pursued a lead that Joslin may have traveled to Oregon, but investigators found no evidence to support this. The investigation returned to Joslin's home, where he lived with Cris Jones, 60. On July 29, investigators executed a search warrant and discovered human remains buried in the backyard. The San Bernardino County Coroner confirmed the remains belonged to Joslin.
Investigators identified Jones as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. Authorities, with assistance from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon, located and took Jones into custody on August 2. He is currently being held on a murder charge and awaits extradition to California. The motive for the killing has not been disclosed, and the investigation is ongoing.
