Rookie D'Angelo Ponds stated he is prepared and healthy for his New York Jets debut. The second-round pick expressed his readiness after a calf injury sustained on the first day of training camp sidelined him.
Ponds was surprisingly inactive for the Jets' recent game against the Packers, despite practicing fully throughout the week. The team appears to be proceeding with caution, as Ponds did not return to practice until September 8, having been injured on the initial day of camp.
"This is probably the best I’ve felt since [my injury]," Ponds told The Post. "I just feel good, just ready for my opportunity. Whenever the opportunity comes, I’m ready to take advantage of it."
Ponds, a former standout from Indiana, is awaiting the coaching staff's decision to activate him for a game.
