Ronnie O'Sullivan's Wife Banned From Driving After Speeding Offense
Laila Rouass cited for driving 26 mph in a 20 mph zone; claims flight disruptions prevented court appearance.
Laila Rouass, wife of seven-time world snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, has been disqualified from driving for six months after being caught speeding. Rouass, 55, was clocked driving 26 mph in a 20 mph zone on the A41 in St John's Wood on August 19, 2025.
Rouass failed to appear in court for her hearing, citing flight disruptions from Dubai due to attempted hijacking and attacks in Saudi Arabia. She had previously contacted Barkingside Magistrates Court last month, stating she had been unwell since returning from abroad.
In an email sent to the court, Rouass, who married O'Sullivan in June 2025, stated she would accept the ban and not contest the case. She also apologized for any inconvenience caused. The actress competed on the seventh series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2009.
According to prosecutor Matthew Longhurst, Rouass was served with a fixed penalty notice on November 11 of the previous year. Her attempt to pay the fine was unsuccessful as she had not provided her license details. The case was referred to court due to Rouass having accumulated nine points on her license from three prior speeding offenses. She had previously been convicted of speeding on October 6, 2024, November 14, 2024, and July 29, 2025.
Magistrate Ms. Piper noted that the current offense would add three penalty points, bringing Rouass's total to twelve, resulting in a six-month driving ban. Rouass was also fined £220, with an £88 victim surcharge and £130 in prosecution costs, totaling £438. She has been notified of her disqualification and has 28 days to pay the fine, due November 19. Upon the expiration of her ban, Rouass will need to reapply to the DVLA for her driver's license.
