Ronan Denies Bond Talk at Home Amidst Husband's Casting Rumors

Saoirse Ronan has stated that rumors of her husband, Jack Lowden, being cast as the next James Bond are not being discussed in their home. This comes after Lowden's "Slow Horses" co-star, Gary Oldman, suggested that the Scottish actor had already been chosen for the role.

Lowden, 36, has been widely tipped as a potential successor to Daniel Craig as the iconic 007 agent, with reports indicating that producers are strongly considering him. Oldman, 68, further fueled speculation by saying he had his "fingers crossed" for Lowden and that the public would be informed soon.

However, Ronan, 32, told the Associated Press that while Oldman may believe he's James Bond, the topic hasn't come up between her and Lowden. "We're kind of getting on with our life to be honest, we have plenty of other things to be dealing with, so yeah, it's not really a subject that's coming up in our house to be honest," she said.

Ronan added that their current focus is on everyday life, such as walking the dog and making dinner. "Jack's on Slow Horses right now, and he's having a good time on that," she noted.

The search for the next James Bond has been ongoing for five years since Daniel Craig's departure. Several actors, including Callum Turner, Harris Dickinson, Jack Barton, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, have been mentioned as being on the audition list.

Amazon MGM Studios released a statement earlier this year confirming the search is underway. "While we don't plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we're excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right," the statement read.

Presenter Richard Osman also recently commented on the casting speculation, stating he had heard definitively who the new Bond might be, naming Jack Lowden. He emphasized that while it's not a confirmed casting, Lowden is "definitely being strongly considered" and would be an "amazing" choice, possessing "real Daniel Craig energy" with the ability to be both funny and perform action sequences.

Ronan and Lowden welcomed their first child in September 2025. Lowden is also slated to appear as Mr. Darcy in an upcoming Netflix adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice."

Previously, Gary Oldman had mentioned on "The Morning Show" that he believed Lowden had been selected but that the announcement had not yet been made.
