Ronald Acuña Jr. Purges Braves Content After NLDS Exit
Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. has removed all team-related content from his Instagram account following the Braves' National League Division Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ronald Acuña Jr., star player for the Atlanta Braves, has appeared to distance himself from the team on social media following their elimination from the NLDS by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Acuña Jr. deleted all Atlanta Braves-related content from his Instagram account and changed his profile picture to an image with the Spanish word "desconectado," which translates to "disconnected."
The motivation behind Acuña Jr.'s social media activity is unclear, with some online speculation suggesting it is a routine offseason practice, while others interpret it as a sign that the player wishes to leave Atlanta.
Acuña Jr. has not been as active on his X account, but he has not deleted any content there. During the NLDS series against the Dodgers, Acuña Jr. struggled offensively, posting a .133 batting average with only two hits, one RBI, and four strikeouts in four games.
Braves fans reportedly booed Acuña Jr. during the team's 4-1 loss in Game 4. Following the game, Acuña Jr. acknowledged the fans' reaction, stating that they had the right to boo him because he "didn't do anything" during the series.
The Braves hold a $17 million team option on Acuña Jr.'s contract for the upcoming offseason, which would require the franchise's agreement if he were to seek a departure from the team.
