Ron Darling Reaffirms Commitment to SNY Booth Through 2027

Ron Darling has confirmed his return to the SNY broadcast booth for the 2027 season, aiming to continue his work alongside Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez. The clarification follows remarks made by Darling that had previously led to speculation about his departure from the network.

"I was trying to be smart and funny, and apparently I wasn't either," Darling stated on "The Mets Pod," addressing the stir caused by his earlier comments. He emphasized his gratitude for his role at SNY, viewing it as an opportunity to excel in broadcasting. "As long as Gary [Cohen], Keith [Hernandez] and SNY still wants me, I'll be here for as long as they do."

Darling's initial comments to The Post had suggested a more uncertain future. When asked about his plans for the 2027 season, he responded, "That's a good question that I can't answer." He cited existing contracts with TBS and SNY, indicating a personal approach of re-evaluating his commitments annually. "I'm at a point now where I'm kind of deciding from year to year," he had said.

Despite the ambiguity, Darling's recent confirmation on the SNY podcast signals his intention to remain with the Mets' broadcast team. He expressed a strong desire to witness a World Series championship for the team, drawing a parallel to the enthusiasm of other broadcasters covering successful teams. "I want to see a championship season," Darling said. "I'm jealous, in fact."

Darling, a member of the 1986 World Series-winning Mets team, has been a fixture in the SNY booth since the network's inception in 2006. He also holds broadcasting responsibilities for national games with TNT/TBS and contributes as an analyst for MLB Network.
