Romesh Ranganathan Feels Humiliated by 'Worst Ever' Faithfuls on Celebrity Traitors

Romesh Ranganathan, star of Celebrity Traitors, has voiced feelings of "utter humiliation" after the show's "Faithfuls" were labeled the "worst ever" following a recent episode. The group's decision to identify Maya Jama, James Acaster, and King Kenny as the most trustworthy contestants, inadvertently selecting the traitors, has drawn widespread criticism from viewers.

"I’m going to tell you now, not ideal," Ranganathan said on his Radio 2 show, recounting the aftermath of the scarecrow task. He described the public reaction on social media as overwhelming, with many TikTok users questioning the contestants' judgment. "loads of people doing TikToks going, 'oh my God how thick are they? This has got to be the worst set of Faithfuls I’ve ever seen in my life!' More difficult than it looks! Anyway, that was humiliating, it was really humiliating."

The comedian also highlighted the disconnect between the on-screen action and contestants' awareness during filming. "When you do the show they say to you, 'there are two parts to doing this show, and the first part is actually filming the show, and then the second part is the show going out', because, obviously, you’re seeing stuff that you didn’t know was going on, and also I’m seeing conversations that I never had any awareness of," he explained.

Ranganathan further expressed his disappointment regarding the lack of acknowledgment for his personal sacrifices within the game. He noted that in two consecutive missions, he was eliminated early after sacrificing himself for the group. "The lack of concern from the other contestants is what I would describe as insulting!" he stated.

Viewers took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express their disbelief at the Faithfuls' choices. Comments included "As if they've picked the three actual Traitors to have the possibility of winning the special power. The worse set of Faithfuls of all time," and "No way the three they chose were the three Traitors." The outcome of the scarecrow task, where three celebrity contestants were chosen to potentially receive a special power, resulted in the addition of £13,500 to the charity prize fund, bringing the total to £59,500. King Kenny, one of those chosen, was awarded a dagger with a double vote.

The series continues to unfold, with the Faithfuls' strategy facing scrutiny as the competition progresses. The missteps have led viewers to question whether the Faithfuls have a realistic chance of winning the jackpot.
