Argentina and Tottenham defender Cristian Romero did not shake U.S. President Donald Trump's hand after collecting his World Cup runners-up medal. Trump, alongside FIFA chief Gianni Infantino, was on stage to present awards following Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina in extra time.

After receiving his medal from Infantino, Romero walked past Trump without acknowledging him and rejoined his teammates. Trump subsequently presented the World Cup trophy to Spain captain Rodri. The U.S. President remained on stage with the Spanish squad as they celebrated lifting the trophy, despite an apparent gesture from Infantino to usher him away. Confetti cannons fired as Trump stood clapping and smiling beside the celebrating players.

An estimated 1.5 to 1.8 billion viewers watched the final. Boos were heard from the stands as Trump and Infantino made their appearance on the pitch for the presentation.

Spain secured the win with a goal from Ferran Torres in the 106th minute. The match saw Argentina commit 24 fouls, and Enzo Fernandez was sent off at the end of regulation time. Following the final whistle, tensions escalated, with Argentina's Leandro Paredes being sent off for striking Eric Garcia and pushing Gavi. Nahuel Molina also punched Rodri, and Thiago Almada was involved in altercations.

It appeared as though FIFA chief Gianni Infantino attempted to usher Trump away - but the President remained Trump took center stage as Spain lifted the World Cup trophy on Sunday
