Romanian Nationals Plead Guilty to Sex Offenses in Manchester Case
Two men admitted to charges related to the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
Two Romanian nationals have pleaded guilty to sex offenses in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl in a Manchester city center flat. Mario-Vifor Ratoiu, 23, admitted to raping the minor, while 26-year-old Mario-Alexandru Ratoiu pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a child.
Authorities responded to a property in the Green Quarter in April after receiving reports of a rape. The two men were subsequently arrested and held in custody.
Prosecutors accepted the less serious charge for Mario-Alexandru Ratoiu, who had initially been charged with rape. Both defendants entered their guilty pleas before a scheduled trial and remain in custody. Sentencing is set for December 3.
Full details of the case have not yet been presented in court. Judge Sarah Johnston ordered pre-sentence reports to be prepared for both defendants, emphasizing the need for cooperation with the probation service to ensure all relevant information is available for sentencing.
