Roller Coaster Malfunction at Cedar Point Halts Ride
A mechanical failure on the Millennium Force roller coaster at Cedar Point led to its immediate closure, with no injuries reported.
The Millennium Force roller coaster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, was shut down on Friday after a metal bracket on a car broke while the ride was in motion. Six Flags Entertainment confirmed the incident, stating that the detached part narrowly missed riders and staff, resulting in no injuries.
Park officials immediately stopped the attraction. It will remain closed pending a thorough safety inspection before it can resume operations. This incident occurred amidst broader safety concerns at Six Flags parks. Earlier in the week, the Goliath hypercoaster at Six Flags Over Georgia was temporarily closed for maintenance due to a wasp's nest. Tragically, hours after that maintenance, a teacher, Hassan Kariem, 42, fell to his death from the Goliath ride, and four children were injured.
