Roger McQueen Embraces Disney Connection with "Cars" Tribute in NHL Debut

Anaheim Ducks forward Roger McQueen continued to lean into the connection with the Disney-Pixar film "Cars" as he made his NHL debut on Tuesday night. During his customary solo lap around the ice before the game, McQueen played "Real Gone" by Sheryl Crow, a song featured prominently in the 2006 "Cars" soundtrack.

The song, which plays during a racing sequence in the movie, accompanied McQueen as he skated onto the ice. This tribute follows a series of "Cars"-themed acknowledgments since his selection in the NHL draft.

McQueen, wearing jersey No. 95, mirroring the number of the animated character Lightning McQueen, had previously visited Disneyland after being drafted by the Ducks with the No. 10 overall pick. His post-draft celebration included a trip to Cars Land, where he posed with a Lightning McQueen figure, and photos in front of the Disneyland castle.

McQueen joins the Ducks after a standout collegiate season at Providence University, where he recorded 11 goals, 16 assists, and 27 points in 36 games. He also played seven games in the AHL after his college season concluded, notching three points, and has since scored three goals in four games for the AHL team this season.
