Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers expressed confidence in the NFL's decision to proceed with the scheduled game in Paris, even as the city experiences significant civil unrest. Rodgers stated that the league is aware of the situation and would not proceed if the game were deemed unsafe.

"I definitely think that the NFL is alert to what's going on," Rodgers told reporters Friday after the Steelers arrived in Paris. "This game means a lot to the NFL. If it was unsafe, then I’m sure we wouldn’t be here."

The NFL has confirmed that preparations for Sunday's Steelers-Saints game at Stade de France are continuing as planned, despite concerns raised by various individuals and entities.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has stated he is in communication with both local authorities in Paris and Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding the situation. However, these assurances have not alleviated all concerns. Former President Donald Trump voiced his apprehension, suggesting the NFL could have postponed the match due to the ongoing issues in France.

Dani Watt, wife of Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt, also shared her concerns on social media, questioning the decision to continue with the game amid the unrest. In response to the evolving situation, the Steelers canceled a fan event that had been scheduled for Sunday in the Bastille neighborhood.

The U.S. State Department issued an alert on Thursday advising American fans in Paris to exercise caution and remain aware of their surroundings while traveling to the game. The alert noted that while demonstration routes may be permitted, last-minute changes can occur, and protests might happen outside planned areas.

Student-led demonstrations have been occurring in Paris throughout the month, protesting various issues including the cost of living, conditions in educational institutions, teacher shortages, and insufficient funding.

"We’ve made all the preparations," Goodell said Wednesday. "Protests are not unusual in France, as you know, and that’s something that we will be aware of and make sure that the appropriate arrangements are made."
