Rodgers and Steelers Gain Momentum Ahead of Buccaneers Clash

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has shown a resurgence in recent weeks, averaging 27.3 points per game and tallying three passing touchdowns in each of his last three starts. This offensive improvement comes after a slow start to the season, where the team struggled to score, managing only 16 offensive points across their first two games with Rodgers throwing one touchdown against one interception.

Despite some public exchanges, such as a Week 4 sideline incident with coach Mike McCarthy, Rodgers appears to have found a rhythm. This offensive momentum positions the Steelers as an appealing road favorite against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who secured their first win of the season last Thursday. The Buccaneers' defense is strong against the run, allowing the second-fewest yards per game, but ranks in the bottom half of the league in passing yards surrendered.

The Steelers' offensive success is bolstered by a developing rapport between Rodgers and rookie receiver Germie Bernard, along with the versatility of running back Jaylen Warren, who recently scored an 80-yard touchdown reception. Veteran receiver DK Metcalf also provides a reliable target.

Defensively, the Steelers are poised to exploit the Buccaneers' vulnerable offensive line. Star pass rusher T.J. Watt is expected to pressure Buccaneers' backup quarterback Jalon Daniels, whose passing statistics have been modest in his previous starts, with 148 and 189 passing yards in his first two starts. The Buccaneers' offensive line entered Week 6 tied for second-most sacks allowed.

This improved offensive and defensive outlook suggests the Steelers have a strong chance to win by a margin of at least a field goal in Tampa Bay. The Steelers' 2026 record stands at 2-3, with a win last week against the Vikings.
