Rod Stewart has canceled the remainder of his 2026 tour dates following a routine coronary stent procedure, his team announced Tuesday. The 81-year-old rocker is expected to take four weeks to recover.
Stewart's wife, Penny Lancaster, posted a photo of herself kissing her husband at home, accompanied by his song "You're in My Heart." His team confirmed on Instagram that Stewart "has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure" and that doctors are pleased with his recovery. They added that he is "doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities."
"On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage," the statement read. "Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates."
Stewart had previously sparked health concerns after canceling a concert on August 9 in Cincinnati due to an "unforeseen but minor medical procedure." He also postponed shows in California and Colorado in June, citing a respiratory infection that led to laryngitis and vocal rest.
Stewart's tour included dates in the U.S. and Mexico, with a six-night engagement planned at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Information regarding affected performances will be communicated by the respective promoters and venues.
"I'm already feeling better and very much on the mend," Stewart said in a comment. "I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me. I'm deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon."
Earlier this year, Stewart drew criticism after attending Scotland's World Cup match in Boston less than 24 hours after canceling a show due to ill health. He explained at the time that he had promised his sons he would attend the World Cup and did not want to let them down.
