Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez was subjected to lyric-laced social media threats and a direct confrontation outside the company's Manhattan headquarters, according to law enforcement sources. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the building on West 26th Street near 11th Avenue in Chelsea.
A representative for Perez, who co-founded the agency with Jay-Z, reported to police that the individual verbally threatened the CEO, stating, "You are going to die."
Sources indicated that the same person had been making death threats against Perez outside the building in multiple incidents since May. Threats were also communicated through social media and music lyrics targeting Roc Nation.
The suspect has been tentatively identified as a homeless man known to frequent Manhattan and the Bronx. As of the report, no arrest has been made.
Perez has played a significant role in Roc Nation's operations, including its collaboration with the NFL to coordinate halftime shows since 2019. She has also worked with numerous artists, including Alicia Keys, Megan Thee Stallion, and Lil Uzi Vert, and has served as an executive producer for major live tours. Perez is also noted as the first executive producer to win an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Live).
