Robin Williams' three children, Zak, Zelda, and Cody, have announced plans for a project aimed at sharing their late father's distinctive talent and humor with the world. This initiative comes as they commemorate what would have been the beloved actor and comedian's 75th birthday last month.
"As we recognize what would be our Dad's 75th year, we're grateful to see new generations discovering his work while longtime fans continue to celebrate the joy he brought into their lives," the siblings said in a joint statement posted to their father's Instagram account. They expressed a desire for the project to serve as a secure platform where "stories, photos, videos, and memories shared reflect his legacy with authenticity, warmth, and care."
The children stated that this upcoming project is their method for "sharing his unique talent and humor with the world, including the moments that made us and so many of you laugh, as we remember our Dad's extraordinary life and work." They concluded by noting, "He continues to inspire us and delight people all over the world."
Last fall, Zelda Williams publicly requested that people stop sending her AI-generated images and clips that resemble her late father. She voiced frustration over the "rampant AI abuse of his voice and likeness" and stated that their current efforts are a way to combat this. "To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough', just so other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening," she wrote on Instagram Stories in October 2025.
Zelda emphasized that these AI creations were not art but rather "disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings." She urged those creating such content to stop, asserting, "It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want."
Robin Williams died by suicide on August 11, 2014, at the age of 63. His family revealed he had been dealing with anxiety, depression, and was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease months before his passing. An autopsy later showed he had Lewy body disease.
On what would have been his 75th birthday on July 21, Zelda shared a tribute on Instagram: "Happy 75th womb evacuation anniversary Poppo! Not sure what 75 would've looked like on you. Probably the same loud socks and cool jackets. Maybe some more crazy glasses as your eyesight got worse. Grayer, but no less hairy. Wish we could talk about the world and joke about my haunted pups. Bet your laugh would be the same. You are loved beyond measure and missed daily. Happy 75th Poppo."
Zak also posted a message, writing: "Happy 75th Dad! Today I'm remembering your weirdness and your extraordinary capacity to love. I remember those wrinkles in the corners of your eyes - the kind you get from a lifetime of smiling. I remember your unending need to see this world free of human and animal suffering. For those out there who'd like to celebrate with me, go do something kind for someone. Make someone laugh. Put a little more good into the world. Love you forever."
