Robert Stock's Season Ends Due to Finger Numbness

Mets pitcher Robert Stock's season has concluded with his placement on the injured list due to finger numbness, a condition the team believes is manageable. An MRI revealed poor circulation in his hand, and Stock has begun treatment with medication.

Stock was scratched from his scheduled start against the Orioles on Wednesday to prevent overextending the bullpen. Xzavion Curry was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to take his place. Stock, 36, finishes the season with a 5.93 ERA in eight appearances, seven of which were starts.

"I have proven that my name should be in consideration for being a major league pitcher," Stock said. "There are a million things I want to do better." He described pitching for the Mets as a "dream come true" and expressed his ambition to be an established major league starter for two decades.

"Aside from the lack of circulation, my arm, when we got all the other imaging done, it looked great," Stock added. "I feel great. I am throwing fast for someone that throws from a low slot and I have no reason to think that will decay anytime soon."

In a separate transaction, right-handed reliever Daniel Duarte was also placed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain. Duarte posted a 2.12 ERA in 24 appearances this season. Lefty Jefry Yan was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to replace Duarte.

The notes also mention Carson Benge, who on Tuesday joined Gregg Jefferies (1989) as the only rookies in franchise history with at least 40 extra-base hits and 20 stolen bases in a season. Benge began Wednesday's game with 18 homers, 19 doubles, and three triples, along with 22 stolen bases.
