Robbie Butler has been appointed as the new health minister, according to BBC News NI. His appointment follows the resignation of Mike Nesbitt from the position.

Nesbitt stepped down after his party leader, Jon Burrows, stated his opposition to the removal of emergency general surgery (EGS) from Causeway Hospital. Burrows expressed disappointment with Nesbitt's decision to resign and indicated he would determine Nesbitt's successor overnight.

Butler, a member of the Lagan Valley Ulster Unionist Party (UUP), has prior experience within the party, having served as its deputy leader. He has also twice considered running for party leadership but withdrew his candidacy on both occasions.
