Veteran 10News sports reporter Robb Waters has accepted a voluntary redundancy, exiting the network after 22 years.
Waters completed his final day with Channel Ten on Friday. He announced his departure on social media, thanking followers for their support and expressing excitement for future endeavors. "Some personal news... after 22 years today is my last day at Channel Ten. I've happily accepted a voluntary redundancy," Waters stated in his message.
During his 22 years at the network, Waters served as both a sports presenter and match commentator. He was recognized for his energetic style while covering major events in Australian Rules Football (AFL) and cricket. Fellow 10News presenter Caty Price paid tribute to Waters during a special on-air segment, calling him a "giant of Melbourne's sporting media" and a "great friend and colleague."
Waters' departure follows that of 10 News+ executive producer Daniel Sutton, who also accepted a voluntary redundancy approximately one month prior. Sutton, who had been with the broadcaster for over two decades, held various senior editorial roles, including a stint as Channel Ten's US correspondent before leading 10 News+.
Channel Ten recently discontinued its current affairs program 10 News+ after less than a year on air due to low ratings. The program was moved from its weekday schedule to a single Sunday night broadcast. Starting August 10, the network will extend its flagship 5 p.m. news bulletin from 60 to 90 minutes to offer more local news coverage in the early evening.
