Annie Reiner, sister of filmmaker Rob Reiner, continues to offer support to her nephew, Nick Reiner, who stands accused in the December 2025 murders of Rob and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. A source close to the family told Page Six that Annie's continued presence has been significant for Nick.

Concerns are mounting over Nick Reiner's condition at Los Angeles' Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he has been held since his arrest. According to a source speaking with the Daily Mail, Nick has undergone a significant physical and mental decline. "He is rapidly deteriorating. No one would recognize him," the source stated, describing him as "super skinny" due to medication and experiencing significant hair loss. The source added that Nick's lawyers are finding it difficult to communicate with him, describing him as "like a babbling child, totally out of it."

Annie Reiner, 77, has largely maintained a private profile since the deaths of her brother and sister-in-law. Family and friends were seen gathering at her Los Angeles home approximately one week after the tragedy.

Nick Reiner was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on December 14, 2025. His parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home. Official death certificates indicate they died within minutes of each other from "multiple sharp force injuries" inflicted by a knife.

Nick Reiner has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances, including the murder of multiple victims and the personal use of a knife. If convicted, he faces a potential death sentence or life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. He had a documented history of schizophrenia and drug addiction, and had reportedly been involved in an argument at a Christmas party the night before his parents' deaths. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in February.

Rob and Michele Reiner, married in 1989, also had two other children: son Jake Reiner, 35, and daughter Romy Reiner, 28. Rob Reiner also adopted Tracy Reiner, 62, from his previous marriage to Penny Marshall.

Jake Reiner publicly addressed the loss of his parents in an essay, detailing the shock of receiving the news of their deaths. He described the profound grief and the feeling of his world collapsing. He expressed how the simultaneous loss of both parents has been devastating and a "living nightmare."
