Retired NFL player Rob Gronkowski has denied any affiliation with the conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA, following the circulation of images and videos showing him at an event in New Hampshire. The footage appeared to show Gronkowski interacting with people at a tent bearing the Turning Point USA logo and urging attendees to vote.
In a statement posted to his Instagram account, Gronkowski clarified that he and his longtime partner Camille Kostek had stopped to greet fans. He stated, "In regard to the images and videos circulating we are not endorsed by or affiliated with Turning Point USA." He added that they "took photos with people across the political spectrum."
While Gronkowski stated his intention was to encourage voting regardless of political party, reports from local news outlets indicated that his appearance was part of a get-out-the-vote effort organized by Turning Point Action, a sister organization to Turning Point USA. Gronkowski expressed disappointment that the event had been "stripped of context and turned into clickbait."
