Rob Beckett Reflects on 'Surreal' Celebrity Traitors Experience with Comedy Peers

Rob Beckett described the experience of participating in the new series of Celebrity Traitors alongside fellow comedians Romesh Ranganathan, Joe Lycett, and James Acaster as "surreal." Beckett, 40, noted that he, Ranganathan (48), Lycett (38), and Acaster (41) were performing to audiences of just eight people in pubs approximately 20 years ago, making their current involvement in a prominent television program a significant career milestone.

Despite his close friendships with the other comedians, Beckett indicated that the competitive nature of the game would take precedence. "Oh yes, if it’s part of the game," Beckett stated when asked if he would betray his friends. "And I’d expect vice versa. If I get done, I get done."

Ranganathan shared a similar sentiment, expressing a degree of suspicion towards Beckett. "Well, it's weird, isn't it? Because Rob is one of my best friends, and we've worked together for a decade now, but I still won't be able to trust it," Ranganathan said. "I mean, he's just as easily going to be on my side as he is going to twist the knife in my back given the opportunity. I mean, it's completely unpredictable."

Beckett acknowledged that while he would be competitive, he would not let the game's outcomes affect him personally for long. "I'll be competitive, but if I get murdered or banished or whatever the situation is, of course I’ll be disappointed for a minute," he said. "And then I'll think, do you know what? I'm going home, and I’ve got a couple of weeks off!"
