Police are seeking the arrest of a man who verbally abused and kicked a cyclist's bike during a road rage incident in Grays, Essex. The confrontation, which occurred in December 2023, was captured on the cyclist's helmet camera.
The driver, identified as Adam Fry, 36, was recorded dangerously overtaking Tony Envoldsen-Harris, 47, in a Volkswagen Golf. As Fry passed, Envoldsen-Harris exclaimed, "Woah! What are you doing?" Fry responded, "Get out of the middle of the road, you freak."
When Envoldsen-Harris read Fry's license plate number aloud, Fry exited his vehicle, shouted aggressively, kicked the cyclist's bike, and called him a "nonce." The incident left Envoldsen-Harris bruised and his bicycle damaged.
Fry pleaded guilty in Basildon Magistrates' Court on May 23, 2024, to careless driving, attempted criminal damage, and a public order offense. He did not appear for a trial on an assault by beating charge, and on August 11, 2025, he was found guilty in his absence. A warrant has been issued for his arrest so he can be sentenced, but he has not yet been detained.
Envoldsen-Harris, who has been cycling for 20 years, expressed frustration with the ongoing search for Fry. "It's been almost a year since it was in court and the police just haven't been able to find him for whatever reason," he stated. "I've tried reaching out to find out, but I've had no responses from them so far."
Essex Police confirmed that a warrant remains in place for Fry's arrest. A spokesperson said officers are continuing to search for him to ensure he appears in court for sentencing. The force has asked anyone with information regarding Fry's whereabouts to contact them, quoting case reference number 42/MR/13913/24.
