RJ Mitte's Mother Details Actor's Struggles, Career Success

RJ Mitte's mother, Dyna Mitte, has stated that the actor's death was unexpected, emphasizing that he was experiencing career success and was engaged in therapy.

Mitte, known for his role as Walter, Jr. in "Breaking Bad," died by suicide earlier this month at the age of 34. His mother spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her son's mental health struggles and career.

"There were concerns," Dyna Mitte said. "That's why I encouraged him to talk to a counselor... I told him to talk to a therapist and share his feelings and how he saw things."

She addressed speculation that Mitte was facing career or financial difficulties. "R.J. had three movies that have already come out this year. He has two more coming out. He has already signed deals on several new movies that he was going to be filming," she explained. Mitte also had a book and a food truck venture in development.

Dyna Mitte clarified that a past financial issue with a manager had been resolved years prior and was unrelated to her son's death. She also touched on speculation regarding his relationship with his fiancée, noting that while they faced challenges, she preferred not to delve into personal matters.

Despite personal troubles, which her son had shared with his family, Dyna Mitte stated they never anticipated he would take his own life. She believes he made the decision during a "weak moment" following a mental health setback.

"A mother should never have to find her child that way. It's a hard pill to swallow," she said.

A Celebration of Life ceremony for RJ Mitte was held on Friday at the Mitte Center in Brownsville, Texas.

Following his death, "Breaking Bad" co-star Bryan Cranston expressed he was "in deep despair," while Aaron Paul released a statement saying, "I am heartbroken over this news. RJ, I love you my friend. You will be missed."
