RJ Mitte, known for his role as Walter "Flynn" White Jr. in "Breaking Bad," was honored by fans and former co-stars at NTX Universe 2026 in Dallas, Texas, over the weekend. Mitte, who died by suicide on October 12 at the age of 34, had been scheduled to appear at the convention.
Attendees were invited to leave messages for Mitte and his family in condolence books provided by the event organizers. "Fans are welcome to stop by and leave a note for RJ and his family in the condolence books there," the NTX Universe website stated. "We will make sure they reach his family after the show."
Mitte's manager, Ben Brucato, shared a message on Instagram from the convention, noting the actor's absence. "This weekend in Dallas was bittersweet. RJ was supposed to be there with us, and it was hard knowing he wasn’t," Brucato wrote. He thanked the event organizers for setting up the condolence table, calling it a "thoughtful gesture."
Brucato was joined by "Breaking Bad" castmates Giancarlo Esposito, Raymond Cruz, and Daniel Moncada at the convention. A photo shared by Brucato showed the actors with an image of Mitte behind them.
"I also want to take a moment to remind everyone that mental health matters," Brucato added in his post. "You never really know what someone is going through behind closed doors, so please check on your people, even the ones who seem like they’re doing okay."
He also urged those struggling to reach out for help, providing the number for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. "If you’re struggling, please know you don’t have to face it alone. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. There is help, there is hope, and your life matters."
Mitte's "Breaking Bad" co-stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul also expressed their grief following his death. Cranston stated he was in "deep despair" over the news, while Paul shared, "I am at a loss. I am heartbroken over this news. RJ, I love you my friend. You will be missed."
Mitte was also remembered at a Celebration of Life ceremony held on October 16 at the Mitte Center in Brownsville, Texas. He had announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Kennedy Suarez in October 2025. Mitte, who lived with cerebral palsy and served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of San Diego, had proposed at a UCP fundraising event.
